The Rise & Rise of Veganism

The Rise & Rise of Veganism

Once reserved for peace-loving hippies, veganism is now a way of life adopted by many and made cool by celebrities such as Russell Brand, Beyoncé and even Brad Pitt.

Millennials are leading the charge with veganism rising steadily over the past decade. Whether it be for health reasons, weight management, animal welfare or the environment, there are many motivators behind the rise of veganism. A recent study showed that 42% of all vegans are found to be between 15 and 34, compared to just 14% of over 65s.

It has been discovered that social media has also played a huge part in the increased move to a plant-based lifestyle with plant-based diets trending online. The #vegan has over 116million posts on Insta alone.

Flexitarianism, part-time vegetarianism or veganism, is also becoming more and more popular with campaigns such as Veganuary where people ditch the steak through January and adopt a plant-based diet instead - a staggering 500,000 people signed up to Veganuary in the UK in 2021!

Choice and quality have improved in recent years for vegan consumers. Supermarkets are catching on with an increased amount of vegan-friendly foods on the shelves to keep up with demands. In fact, there really is no part of mainstream culture that has been untouched by the growth of veganism. The fashion world is now buzzing with vegan clothes and shoes, with many fashion retailers offering a wide range of vegan products. Vegan-friendly fabrics include materials such as synthetic and man-made materials like faux leather and polyester.

Gifting is no exception either when it comes to veganism. Retailers have rallied to the calls for thoughtful and intentional vegan gifts. Here at The Present Finder, we offer a range of vegan gifts. Choose from items such as our Vegan Marshmallow Gift Sets which makes the perfect s’mores in a choice of yummy flavours. The Deodorising Chefs Soap for any budding chef desperate to rid their hands of all the pungent kitchen aromas. The Vegan Street Food Cookbook with over 100 delicious street food recipes from India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and beyond or even the Eco-Friendly Whale Notebook, a handmade notebook with personality.

With an expected 13 million Brits to be meat-free by the end of the year, veganism is not a trend but a way of life for many that is here to stay. Modern consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the health, environmental and ethical benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.

Will you make the switch to veganism?
