This silver plated wine funnel is an elegant and practical present. Not only does it decant and filter your wine but it also distributes the wine around the sides of the decanter, increasing contact with the air, accelerating its aeration and allowing the flavours to develop more quickly. A must for any wine lover. 5 1/2 inches high (14 cm).
I use the wine funnel at home - the purpose of it is to "aerate" red wine about an hour before drinking it which makes a huge difference to its taste.
Place the funnel into the top of the decanter.
Pour the bottle of wine slowly into the funnel.
The wine with come out of the bottom of the funnel - via the bend - and spills onto the inside glass of the decanter.
This action, allows the maximum amount of oxidation to occur as the wine goes into the bottom of the decanter.
I have used one of these for years and it can turn a maderate bottle of red wine into a delicious one very quickly by thoroughly aerating it. Mark
